Library Reference Search

Library Reference Search This is a good example of a search engine based on Overture. Results at Overture are determined by advertisers who bid on search terms. The results are of course very commercial. It is hard to find good "free" info in the results because every advertiser is trying to sell something. Unfortunately, lots of other search engines and directories are using Overture results and in many cases are not labelling the results as advertising. This includes Yahoo, AltaVista, Excite, Go, and hundreds of smaller outifts like Library Reference Search. As Yahoo now owns Overture, we can only expect it to get harder to find good quality results on the Web. All the more reason to teach our students to use Google...
