Do Not Mess With Jedi Librarians!

Over the Christmas Holiday, I read Star Wars: Dark Lord - The Rise of Darth Vader. This book takes place directly after the events of Star Wars: Episode Three - Revenge of the Sith.

One of the main charachters is Olee Starstone. She is a Padawan (apprentice) Jedi who was slated to become the next librarian of the Jedi Archives. At the outbreak of the Clone Wars, she is sent into battle to gain field experience.

With the destruction of the Jedi Temple and most of the Jedi Order, a future as a librarian is no longer going to happen for Starstone. Yet, no one forgets she is a librarian...

Check out this quote from another Jedi:

"She was a librarian. You know how they can be. A librarian with the force...Very dangerous combination."

I found it amusing anyway. I was not expecting to run into librarian stereotypes in a Star Wars novel!

Only tenuously related (sci-fi/librarians) - but I only just discovered that Zoe Heriot (Wendy Padbury) who was my favourite Assistant to my favourite Dr Who, Patrick Troughton (when they originally broadcast, I'm THAT old) was a librarian (a futuristic sort, on a space wheel). When I watched it, "librarian" wasn't my dream occupation, so I suppose I didn't take that bit in.
