The Librarian: Your Technology Partner

The Librarian: Your Technology Partner. This is a nice article on the importance of school library media specialist librarians at Education World. The author is Doug Johnson.

Note this reference why the LMSs are important:

"An understanding of the use of technology in the information literacy process and its use in fostering higher level thinking skills. Librarians view technology as just one more, extremely powerful tool that can be used by students completing well-designed information literacy projects. Many "technologists" just now are getting this - that using technology to solve problems and answer questions is more powerful than using it simply as an electronic workbook."

I also like the part about librarians having good teaching skills too.

I have DDR tournaments in the library, the kids love it and they get to see their librarian in rare form. It's also a good way to combine forces with health teachers, nurses, and administrators.
