Step Up to the Plate

Step Up to the Plate. This article from the Wellington Daily News has information on a program which is designed to teach information literacy using baseball examples. Wellington is located in Kansas.

The article notes, "The program is designed to help children and adults build their 21st century literacy skills and better understand how libraries and librarians can help obtain the skills that can help them 'Step up to the Plate' in everyday life."

Use of the library is encouraged. The article notes, "Unlike most contests, players are encouraged to look up the answers using both print and online sources at their library."

This appears to be a novel and fun way to publicize the library and also help build information literacy skills among younger patrons. Maybe someone can do this with a football theme. How about "First and Goal @ your library?"
